Keep it about the hair - EVERYTHING ELSE IS A DISTRACTION

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about my shop; what do I want it to look like in 5 years, what should I focus on, and biggest of all - should I consider the new fad of adding complementary amenities like all the 'new' shops in town. What I really mean is things like a bar, a cigar lounge, or whatever else someone can imagine. Admittedly, I see the appeal for both the customer and the owner...BUT...here's the problem...
1) Barbering is a craft - it takes years to learn and master, and ultimately having other bells and whistles distracts from the craft, it distracts from the barber continuing to master new styles, it distracts from his focus on your cut, and it distracts what the business is about.
2) Not that much unlike the point above. Shouldn't it be all about the hair? We are talking about urban shops here. If you want a bar, wont you just go to the place they focus on beer...like any of the bars within a ball throw away.
3) Call me old-fashioned, but I like the....
Just a starting quick thought, for how a blog post could look...
